Do you hesitate, or even cringe, when thinking about co-writing a story with someone you may know? What sort of thoughts go through your head when the idea comes up? I know what I was thinking.
Recently, a friend and I decided to co-write a story, and send it off. I didn’t even hesitate, because I knew the quality of my friend’s work and knew he’d be a breeze as a writing partner. I had tried co-writing a story once before, with mixed results, though even then I had a generally positive experience out of it, but with no publication on the story.
This time, success! We had an immediate acceptance in an anthology. What a great feeling, and worthy of the ‘I’ve Been Published’ dance we both did in our respective homes!
Now comes the time to keep that Word window open and keep on writing. And I strongly encourage you to do the same! Just remember what little you have to lose in doing so, and what you have to gain!
As for exactly what went through my mind before and during the co-writing of a story? That is a tale for another time…
Best regards,
